Uses
Here is a collection of all the software, hardware and services that I use and recomment.
Cloud
github
Of course, I'm using github! Currently hosting several private repos.
Azure
I'm using the App Insights, Logic Apps, and blob storage for my iOS App.
Fastmail
I used Google Business for a long time but moved everything to Fastmail a few years ago and I've had no regrets. Their servers are fast, responsive, and I haven't seen a single spam message slip through and didn't have to set a thing up..
CloudFlare
I'm using the free tier with an CI/CD connection from my private github repo for site hosting, security, and analytics.
11ty Site Generator
The 11ty site generator is a highly configurable and fast node based tool that I'm using to generate this site.
Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage
I'm using Backblaze's B2 Cloud Storage to store backups of my Raspberry PI with rclone.
Tailscale
Frameworks
Xamarin
Xamarin is what was, but as a former .Net developer it feels familiar and robust to me. My first App Store app, StudyStacks was built with it.
Processing.JS

2015 MacBook Pro (Mid 2014)
This MacBook Pro is old! Officially the "Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014". It was the top of the line in its day, and is still blazing fast for most tasks. And, it was the generation before the butterfly keyboards and the loss of ports like HDMI and memory cards. I'm using the OpenCore Patcher to run the macOS Ventura (13.4).
Raspberry Pi - CM4 and IO Board
I'm using the CM4 (8GB ram, 16GB mmc) attached to the IO Board for local backups, ad-blocking (with pihole), home automation (with HomeAssistant) and to stream my record player over Air Play (with Ciped and OwnTone).
Synology RT6600ax Router
I love the wi-fi speeds this router provides and all the geeky config options.
Ubiquity Cloud Gateway Max
This was my first Ubiquity item. I've been impressed with the speed and stability as well as the ease of setup and functionality.
Ubiquity Access Point U7 Pro XG
Another great product from Ubiquity - brining more stability and speed to my wireless network. Installed and configured in minutes and I have't had to touch it since. I'll be adding more of their products in the future.
2026 MacBook Pro (M5 Pro)
This MacBook Pro is fast! I went with the Pro chip to make sure I've got the horsepower to keep it a long time. Bumped also bumped the RAM to 48GB and 2TB of SSD space. Another upgrade is the Nano Texture display which I'm impressed with so far.
Services
1Password
I've used 1Password for years!
Hover
I've had my domain name since the early 2000s. I don't remember who my first registrar was — probably Tucows. First heard about Hover from some podcasts and eventually transferred my domains in 2014 and I've been with them, and have been happy with their service and prices ever since.
Pushover
Easy way to send personal push notifications to my phone from Azure Logic Apps or other sources through a simple REST API.

Tools
Panic Software's Nova
I loved Coda back in the day, and Nova is even better. I've been playing with AI code tools, but I love having the tools I need to edit and build by hand.
Cursor.ai
I wanted to keep up with the latest AI coding functionality and at the time Cursor was the hottest pick. Since then Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Code have taken a lot more of the attention &emdash; but Cursor still does everything I need. I especially love jumping from Nova into Cursor to solve a specific problem, and then going back to where I was in Nova.
Panic Software's Prompt
While I was using Nova and the excellent built-in terminal, I was constantly trying to alt-tab between file and terminal tabs only to end up in another app. Adding Prompt to the mix fixed that and unlocked other great functionality like clips!
